Since 2012, we’ve had the privilege of working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), documenting their incredible growth from hosting conferences at the Business Design Centre in Islington to now filling massive venues like the ExCeL Centre in East London. This journey has been nothing short of inspiring, and in October 2019, we were back at it again—this time shooting a series of customer interviews and attendee insights at one of their biggest social events of the year.
An Expanding Presence: AWS at the ExCeL Centre
AWS has come a long way since those early conference days. With cloud computing becoming an essential service across industries, it’s no surprise that AWS’s events now attract thousands of attendees, including major corporate clients, industry leaders, and tech innovators. The scale of the event at the ExCeL Centre was truly impressive, and we were excited to capture the energy and insights from those who rely on AWS every day.



Capturing the Voices of Industry Leaders
Our main task for the event was conducting and filming customer interviews, speaking with representatives from:
• FirstGroup – A leading transport operator leveraging AWS for digital transformation.
• Inmarsat – A pioneer in satellite communications using AWS for cloud-based solutions.



• Dunelm – A household name in home furnishings, utilizing AWS to enhance their customer experience.
These interviews provided valuable insights into how AWS is shaping industries, enabling businesses to scale, innovate, and improve operations through cloud computing technology.
Technical Setup: Achieving the Best Visuals & Sound
To ensure the highest production quality, we filmed the interviews and event footage in 4K Ultra HD using a high-performance DSLR camera. This resolution provided stunning clarity and detail, making the final footage perfect for professional use across AWS’s marketing channels and social platforms.
For lighting, we set up a three-point lighting system to ensure balanced exposure, professional-grade visuals, and flattering angles for each interviewee. This setup allowed us to create a clean and polished look, maintaining AWS’s professional brand image.
Beyond the interviews, we also took to the event floor, engaging with attendees to capture their real-time thoughts, experiences, and takeaways. This added a dynamic, on-the-ground perspective that showcased the excitement and enthusiasm of those attending.



Reflecting on Another Successful AWS Event
